Abstract

Myocarditis, inflammation of myocardial tissue is very complex clinical entity, from some point of view it presents serious question for physicians and researchers as well. The most prominent cause for myocardial inflammation in children has been viruses. However, myocarditis might be caused by toxins, ischemia, mechanical damage, drugs, immune reactions in post-transplant children or it might be related to systemic tissue diseases. The incidence of clinically manifested myocarditis is rather low, but the evolution of the disease and frequently uneventful and even fulminant outcome make it significantly important. The key component for clinical presentation and final outcome is the quality of immune response which is no doubt therapeutic dilemma in children as well as in adults.
